Why ImgOpt

One drag-and-drop window for everything image & PDF

Drop in files or whole folders, pick a preset, and ImgOpt does the rest — with best-in-class engines and results that are never larger than the original.

⚡️

Best-in-class compression

MozJPEG, ZopfliPNG, libwebp, and ImageIO under the hood. Real engines, not a generic re-save.

🔁

Convert anything

JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP, AVIF — or keep the original format and just optimize it in place.

📄

Full PDF toolkit

Compress PDFs, export pages as images, and combine images into a single PDF — passwords included.

🔒

100% private

Everything runs on your Mac. No uploads, no accounts, no tracking, no network access at all.

📦

True batch processing

Hundreds of files at once, with adaptive concurrency that scales to your Mac and backs off under memory pressure.

🧩

Built into macOS

Finder right-click menu, Shortcuts & the Services menu. Optimize without even opening the app.

Formats

Reads almost everything. Writes what you need.

Drop in ten formats; convert to a modern one, or keep the original container and just optimize it.

Input

Drop files or folders in any of these:

JPEG PNG HEIC HEIF TIFF WebP GIF BMP SVG PDF

Output

Convert to a modern format, or keep the original and just optimize it:

JPEG PNG HEIC WebP AVIF Keep Original

"Keep Original" preserves the source container — a dropped GIF stays an (animated) GIF, a TIFF stays a TIFF — and SVGs can stay as optimized vectors.

Under the hood

A real engine for every format

Each format is handled by the tool the pros use, with lossless options that keep your pixels bit-for-bit identical.

Format Engine Mode
JPEG MozJPEG — trellis quantization, optimized Huffman, progressive scans Lossy
JPEG (re-pack) Lossless Huffman re-encode — bit-identical pixels, smaller file Lossless
PNG ZopfliPNG extra-effort DEFLATE, or fast ImageIO; optional palette quantization with dithering Lossless Lossy
WebP libwebp — lossless by default, or high-quality lossy Both
HEIC Apple ImageIO / HEVC encoder Lossy
AVIF Apple's native AV1 encoder Lossy
SVG Text-level cleanup — strips comments & editor metadata, shortens colors; keeps titles, scripts, CSS & animation Lossless
PDF qpdf lossless rewrite, or lossy via rasterize / embedded-image re-compression Lossless Lossy

Never-inflate guarantee: ImgOpt compares every result against the source and ships whichever is smaller — your files are never made bigger.

Control

Powerful when you want it. Simple when you don't.

Fine-grained resize, metadata, naming and performance controls — or just pick a preset and go.

  • Resize & DPI — fit-in-box or exact dimensions, set DPI, and never enlarge by accident.
  • Metadata control — strip or keep EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP, ICC, orientation and thumbnails, group by group. A privacy profile drops location and personal tags in one click.
  • Filename templates Premium — build output names with tokens like {name}, {date}, {width} and zero-padded # sequences, with an optional web-safe mode.
  • Presets — start with Compress for Web, Compress for Email and Max Compression, then save your own.
  • Adaptive performance — uses every core for big batches and automatically backs off when your Mac is under memory pressure.
  • Originals stay put — output goes to your chosen destination; ImgOpt never silently renames or overwrites your source files.
PDF toolkit

More than a compressor

Compress, export and combine — with password-protected PDFs handled gracefully.

🗜️

Compress PDFs

Lossless qpdf rewrite, or lossy modes that re-compress embedded images or rasterize pages — with Smaller / Balanced / Better quality presets.

🖼️

Export pages as images Premium

Turn any page range into JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP or AVIF at 72–600 DPI, with optional resize and watermark per page.

📚

Combine into a PDF Premium

Merge a stack of images into one optimized PDF, in your chosen order, with resize and watermark applied.

Password-protected PDFs are handled gracefully: unlock with a prompt, then keep the original encryption on the output or remove it — your choice.

Branding

Watermark a whole batch in one pass Premium

Drop in your logo and ImgOpt composites it onto every image as it's optimized — no round-trip through another app.

  • 9-point anchor — corners, edges or center.
  • Precise margins — in pixels or as a percentage.
  • Flexible sizing — scale to the long edge or cap to a max width/height; aspect always preserved.
  • Opacity control — subtle to bold.
Fits your workflow

Privacy by design

Your files never leave your Mac

No uploads, no accounts, no tracking — sandboxed and hardened, by design.

🚫

No uploads, ever

All processing happens in-process, on-device. ImgOpt has no network access entitlement — it literally can't phone home.

🕵️

No tracking, no accounts

No analytics, no data collection, no sign-in. The privacy manifest declares exactly nothing collected.

🛡️

Sandboxed & hardened

Runs in the App Sandbox with the hardened runtime, only touching files you explicitly choose.

FAQ

Good to know

The questions we get asked most.

Does ImgOpt upload my images anywhere?

No. Everything runs entirely on your Mac. ImgOpt doesn't have network access at all — your files never leave the device, and there are no accounts or analytics.

Is Premium a subscription?

No. Premium is a single one-time purchase (a non-consumable In-App Purchase). It unlocks on every Mac signed in to the same Apple ID, supports Family Sharing, and includes every Premium feature added in future updates.

Will it make my files worse, or bigger?

Never bigger — ImgOpt compares each result against the source and keeps whichever is smaller. For quality, you choose: lossless modes keep your pixels bit-for-bit identical, while lossy modes give you a quality slider for maximum savings.

What formats can I drop in?

JPEG, PNG, HEIC, HEIF, TIFF, WebP, GIF, BMP, SVG and PDF — individual files or whole folders. You can convert to JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP or AVIF, or keep the original format and just optimize it.

What do I need to run it?

A Mac running macOS 14 or later, on Apple Silicon or Intel. ImgOpt is available in English and Traditional Chinese.
